Welcome back to another post! I recently got a free one-year Disney+ subscription, and I’m honestly thrilled. There’s just something comforting about rewatching classic Disney movies or discovering ones I missed growing up. Even though I already had Disney+ on my TV, I rarely used it — but now that I can watch it on my MacBook, I’ve been way more motivated to dive into the world of animated magic, teenage drama, and heartfelt storytelling.
It’s been such a long time since I’ve watched so many Disney movies; therefore, it feels exciting to catch up again. So, to kick things off, I’ve created a personal Disney movie watchlist — a mix of nostalgic rewatches, trending releases, and series I’ve always wanted to finish. Whether you’re new to Disney+ or just looking for recommendations, here’s what’s on my list (and maybe soon on yours too!).
🎬 Disney Movies & Series on My Watchlist
✨ Classic Disney Switch-Ups
Some of the most iconic and heartwarming stories come from Disney’s love for “switched lives” and surprise twists. These two never get old:
- Freaky Friday
Tess and her teenage daughter, Anna, can’t seem to see eye to eye. However, when a mysterious incident causes them to switch bodies, they’re forced to experience life from the other’s perspective. It’s funny, chaotic, and surprisingly emotional — a must for anyone’s Disney movie watchlist. - The Parent Trap
Two girls meet at a summer camp and discover they’re actually identical twins separated at birth. What follows is a sweet and clever plot to reunite their divorced parents. I loved this one growing up and can’t wait to rewatch it!
🌈 Pixar & Animated Stories That Touch the Heart
These animated films go beyond beautiful visuals — they’re deeply emotional, full of meaning, and perfect for cozy nights in.
- Luca
Set in a seaside town in Italy, Luca tells the story of a sea monster who experiences life on land for the first time. It’s a tale of friendship, bravery, and self-discovery — and I’ve heard the animation is stunning. - Soul
Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose real dream is to play jazz. But after an accident sends him into another realm, he must guide someone else to find their spark — and ends up discovering what really matters in life. This is one of the most touching Pixar movies I’ve heard of, and I’m finally giving it a watch. - Inside Out 2
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust return in this emotional sequel. But now, they’re joined by a new feeling — Anxiety. I love how this series teaches emotional intelligence in such a fun way. Definitely high on my Disney movie watchlist!
💕 Rom-Coms & Lighthearted Escapes
Sometimes you just need a good rom-com or something a little chaotic to brighten the mood. Here are two picks I’m excited to revisit:
- Just My Luck
Ashley is used to having everything go her way — until a kiss with a stranger causes her luck to completely flip. Meanwhile, Jake, who’s had terrible luck all his life, suddenly has everything going right. It’s lighthearted and fun — perfect for a weekend watch. - Mr. & Mrs. Smith
This one’s more action-comedy, but I’m adding it to the list anyway. A married couple discovers they’re rival assassins and must take each other down. It’s silly, dramatic, and full of over-the-top spy action.
🕵️♀️ Mystery & Magical Series to Binge
Besides movies, Disney+ has some great series that bring both nostalgia and new intrigue. These are on my binge list too:
- Only Murders in the Building
Three strangers bond over a true crime obsession — and end up investigating a real murder in their own building. I’ve heard this is witty, stylish, and surprisingly heartfelt. I’m hooked just from the trailer! - Wizards of Waverly Place
The Russo kids are training to become wizards, but only one can keep their powers. It’s fun, magical, and full of sibling rivalry. I never finished it when I was younger, so I’m adding it to this list. - Lizzie McGuire
Ahh, Lizzie! A clumsy but lovable middle schooler figuring out life with friends, family, and hilarious animated inner thoughts. This show screams early 2000s, and I’m so ready for the nostalgia.
✨ Final Thoughts
This list combines nostalgia, heartfelt storytelling, and modern masterpieces — and I honestly can’t wait to work through it movie by movie. Whether I’m watching with friends, journaling about each film in my digital planner, or just unwinding after a long day, Disney+ is giving me so many reasons to hit play again. Eventually, I plan to rewatch some childhood favorites I haven’t seen in years. For example, The Parent Trap always reminds me of weekend movie nights growing up.
