📸 Mid-Autumn Festival 2023 – Kuala Lumpur City
Photographed by Jess Ling | iPhone 14 Pro Max
I took these photos in September 2023 during the Mid-Autumn Festival in Kuala Lumpur, and I’m so excited to finally share them as part of my portfolio. The city was glowing—literally—with lanterns lighting up streets, shopping districts, and parks. I didn’t plan a big shoot or use a DSLR—just my iPhone 14 Pro Max, spontaneous walks, and a love for capturing quiet moments.
This festival is one of the most beautiful times of year in Malaysia. It celebrates family reunion, the full moon, and traditions like lantern walks and mooncake sharing. Kuala Lumpur adds a local flair to it, combining heritage and modern vibes. The mix of neon lights, traditional red lanterns, and bustling night scenes made it feel both festive and personal.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is celebrated in many Asian countries, but the Kuala Lumpur version has its own local charm. You can learn more about its meaning and origins here.
For this gallery, I mainly used my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It wasn’t a professional shoot—just a personal collection I wanted to keep as a memory of that beautiful night. Enjoy!
