Hello and welcome back to my blog!
Sorry I’ve been a little slow with my posts lately! I’ve been busy creating a few websites and personal apps for work and for my own use. Honestly, it’s been quite exciting to see what I can do with the help of AI.
And recently, I made something new — my very own stock portfolio tracker!
Well, it’s not just for tracking stocks. I also have some ideas about using it to organise my other financial records in the future. For now, I’m happy that I’ve managed to build a basic version that I can actually use.
The funny thing is, I don’t really know how to code. So, how did I manage to make my own app? Let me share a little about my journey!

How I Got Into Building Websites and Apps with AI
Recently, I’ve been exploring different platforms and tools that allow people to create their own websites and apps with the help of AI.
What attracted me most was how simple the process seemed. You don’t necessarily need to be a programmer or understand complicated code to start turning your ideas into something real.
I’m definitely not a technical person. If the code is simple, I might be able to understand a little, but anything too complicated is another story!
That’s why having an AI assistant has been so helpful for me. Instead of worrying too much about the technical side, I can focus on what I actually want to create and let AI help me figure out how to build it.
I’ve been using ChatGPT to help me organise my ideas and write prompts, then sending those prompts to Work Buddy to help build my websites and apps.
Of course, it doesn’t mean everything works perfectly on the first try. Sometimes, I still need to explain what I want more clearly or ask for adjustments. But the whole process feels much less intimidating than trying to build everything from scratch.
And honestly, that’s one of the things I enjoy most about it!
From My First Attempts to More Than Six Projects
I first started exploring this way of building websites and apps around June. At the beginning, I really didn’t understand much about the process, and it took me some time to get used to it.
By around August, I had become more comfortable experimenting with different ideas. Since then, I’ve created more than six websites and personal apps for different purposes.
Some are for organising my social media work, including content planning and publishing schedules. Others are for personal use, such as organising travel plans and flight information.
Each project serves a different purpose, depending on what I need at the time.
I think that’s what makes this experience so interesting. Rather than searching for an existing app that does exactly what I want, I can try building something that suits my own workflow.
And if I think of something new later, I can always try to add it!
I’m still learning along the way, but it’s been fun discovering what is possible.

My Latest Project: A Personal Stock Portfolio Tracker
Yesterday, I finally decided to try building something related to my investments.
I’ve wanted a simple way to organise my stock portfolio and keep my investment records in one place. So, instead of just looking for another app, I thought, why not try making one myself?
That’s how my stock portfolio tracker came about.
At the moment, I already have a basic version that I can use. It’s still a work in progress, but having something that I built myself is quite satisfying.
What I like about this project is that I can develop it based on my own needs. I don’t have to figure out every feature at once, and I can take my time exploring what would be useful.
I’m also thinking about how I might organise other financial records on the same platform in the future. But for now, I want to focus on getting the basics right before making things more complicated.
After all, there’s no point in adding lots of features if the things I actually need don’t work properly!
What I’ve Learned from This Experience
One thing I’ve realised is that you don’t always need to know everything before getting started.
When I first tried building websites and apps, I didn’t really know what I was doing. I just had some ideas and wanted to see whether I could make them work.
Using AI has made it easier for me to experiment. I can describe what I want in everyday language, get help turning my ideas into prompts, and gradually improve the result.
I’ve also learned that being specific about what I want is important. The clearer I explain my ideas, the easier it is to work towards something useful. And when the result isn’t quite right, I can make adjustments instead of giving up immediately.
Of course, AI can’t do absolutely everything for me. I still need to check whether the app works as expected, and I’m especially careful with anything involving financial records and calculations.
But I no longer feel that a lack of coding skills means I can’t try building something of my own.
Sometimes, the first step is simply giving an idea a chance.
What’s Next?
For now, I’m happy to have my own stock portfolio tracker up and running in its basic form.
I still have plenty to learn, and there may be things I want to change or improve as I use it more. That’s part of the fun, I suppose!
I might share more about the app in a future post, including how I built it, what I’ve learned along the way, and any new features I manage to add.
It’s quite amazing to look back and realise that something I once thought was beyond my ability is now something I can experiment with myself.
Anyway, that’s a little update from me!
Have you ever tried using AI to build your own website or app? Or is there something you’ve always wanted to create but never knew where to start?
I’d love to hear about it.
