Six notebooks, twelve months, one year of memories.
For 2027, I decided to divide my journaling into six notebooks, each dedicated to a different part of my life.
I wanted to keep everything organised without squeezing all my interests into one planner. From tracking stocks and collecting random thoughts to observing people, documenting books and movies, recording everyday experiences, and keeping travel memories, each notebook has its own purpose.
I’m not planning to fill every page or follow a strict journaling schedule. I simply want to have my notebooks ready so I can use them whenever something catches my attention.
Here’s how I plan to use my six notebooks throughout 2027.
My Six Notebooks
- Stock Journal
- Collage & Random Thoughts
- Human Observation Journal
- Movie & Reading Journal
- Daily Journal
- Travel Journal
01. Stock Journal
Investments, research, and personal records.
My first notebook is dedicated to stocks and investing. My stock journal will help me organise research, track transactions, and review investment decisions.
What I’ll record:
- Companies and industries on my watchlist
- Company fundamentals, financial results, and announcements
- Investment ideas, valuation notes, and potential risks
- Buy and sell transactions, including fees and the reasons behind my decisions
- Portfolio performance and lessons learned
Whenever I research a company or make an investment decision, I can record the details here. I may also review my notes from time to time to see what I’ve learned and whether my decisions align with my investment plan.
The goal is to build a useful record of my investment journey over time, rather than rely on memory alone.
02. Collage & Random Thoughts
Creative pages, collected bits, and everyday inspiration.
This is my free-form notebook. I want a space for anything that catches my attention, from pretty packaging and magazine cutouts to random thoughts and little memories.

Things I might collect:
- Stickers, washi tape, and paper scraps
- Photos, receipts, and tickets
- Quotes and random thoughts
- Colours, outfits, and visual inspiration
- Favourite things and current interests
- Collage experiments and creative layouts
I might create themed pages such as Things I Love Lately, Little Moments, or Currently Inspired By. Other pages might simply be a collection of things I like, without any particular theme.
There’s no fixed format or monthly target. I just want a place where I can stick things, write things down, and create whenever I feel like it.
03. Human Observation Journal
People, behaviour, conversations, and social interactions.
I have a feeling this might become the notebook I use the most.
I’m interested in the little things people do and the interactions that happen around me. It could be an interesting conversation at a café, something I notice on public transport, or a behaviour that makes me curious about how people communicate.
When something catches my attention, I can use a simple format to record it:
- Date & Setting: Where and when it happened
- Observation: What I actually saw or heard
- Initial Thoughts: Why it caught my attention
- Possible Interpretations: Other explanations for the behaviour
- Reflection: What it made me think about
I also want to record my own reactions and habits, rather than focus only on other people. Sometimes, the way I respond to a situation can be just as interesting as the situation itself.
Of course, I’ll avoid including unnecessary identifying details or private information about others.
I don’t expect to write in this notebook every day. I’ll simply bring it along and make a note whenever I notice something worth remembering.
04. Movie & Reading Journal
Movies watched, books read, and favourite discoveries.
This notebook will keep track of the stories I experience throughout 2027, whether they come from a movie screen or the pages of a book.

For movies, I might record:
- Title, director, and viewing date
- Genre and personal rating
- Favourite scenes or characters
- Memorable themes or quotes
- Personal thoughts and recommendations
For books, I might record:
- Title, author, and reading dates
- Reading progress
- Favourite passages and key ideas
- Personal takeaways and reflections
I may keep a watchlist or reading list when I have something I want to explore. After finishing a book or movie, I can jot down a few thoughts about what stood out to me.
I also want to keep a record of my favourite discoveries throughout the year, so I can look back on the stories I enjoyed most.
05. Daily Journal
Everyday life, personal experiences, and memories.
My daily journal is where I’ll record the things that happen in my life, from ordinary routines to special occasions.
That said, I probably won’t write every day. If I’m just going to work and coming straight home without anything particularly interesting happening, there might not be much to write about, haha.
Instead, I’ll use this notebook when something feels worth recording.
Depending on the day, I might write about:
- Something interesting that happened
- A memorable conversation or personal experience
- How I felt about a particular situation
- Places I visited and people I met
- Birthdays, gatherings, and other special occasions
I can also add photos, tickets, or little keepsakes to help preserve the memory.
There’s no need to turn every ordinary day into a full journal entry. I’d rather write when I have something to say than force myself to write just to keep up a streak.
06. Travel Journal
Travel wishlists, itineraries, budgets, and memories.
My travel journal will hold everything related to travelling, from destinations I’d love to visit to the details of trips I’ve completed.
Travel Wishlist
For destinations that interest me, I can note:
- Why I want to visit
- Places and attractions to explore
- Ideal travel dates or seasons
- Estimated budget
- Suggested length of stay
Travel Planning
When a trip is confirmed, I can create a dedicated section for the details I need, such as:
- Travel dates and transportation
- Accommodation and bookings
- Daily itineraries and places to eat
- Estimated expenses and budget
- Packing lists and other preparations
Travel Memories
After each trip, I can add photos, tickets, receipts, and notes about my favourite places and experiences. I can alsocompare my estimated budget with the actual cost to help plan future travels.
My 2027 Journaling Approach ♡
For now, I don’t want to assign a specific theme or checklist to each month. I simply want to get my notebooks ready and let things unfold naturally.
I’ll write about whatever happens along the way, using different notebooks to record different parts of my life depending on the situation and how I feel at the time.
I don’t expect to update my notebooks every day, either. Instead, I’ll write when something interesting or out of the ordinary happens. If it’s just another day of going to work and coming straight home, there probably won’t be much to write about anyway, haha.
I have a feeling this might become the notebook I use the most. Since my M5 is lightweight and easy to carry, I can bring it with me whenever I go out. For example, I can jot down an interesting conversation at a café or a small detail I notice on public transport.
Instead of relying on my memory later, I can record these observations while they are still fresh. Over time, this notebook may become a collection of little moments that might otherwise be forgotten.
I may still look through my notebooks at the end of a month, but it will be more of a casual catch-up than a formal review. I can see what I’ve recorded, organise loose notes if needed, and leave the rest for another time.
The goal isn’t to make every notebook look perfect or to write in all six regularly. I just want a system that gives different parts of my life a place to be recorded without making journaling feel like another task on my to-do list.
Six Notebooks, One Year ♡
Each notebook represents a different part of my life: investing, creativity, observation, entertainment, everyday experiences, and travel.
I don’t know exactly what each notebook will look like by the end of 2027, and I quite like that. Some may fill up faster than others, while a few might stay quiet for a while.
I’ll let the year decide what goes into them.
By the end of December, I hope to have six notebooks filled with useful records, creative pages, interesting observations, personal memories, and little pieces of my life throughout the year.
Here’s to my 2027, one page at a time. ♡
